Hey Tommy, I really enjoyed what you said today. As someone who just turned 25 trying to get my associates seeing my high school mates graduating 4 year, getting married etc. this was much needed. Acceptance of the timeline
Thanks for taking time from your day to read and leave your thoughts, Dominic. Means a lot.
It's very hard to not compare yourself with peers. Especially with social media.
Comparison is inevitable, but the unlock for me has been to continually remind myself that I have my own unique path, that's meant specifically for me. And because of it's uniqueness, I'm learning to love it instead of feeling frustrated or ashamed.
We tend to compare on external characteristics because they're visible to us (despite the fact they have a much lower impact on happiness).
An idea I've been toying with is evaluating your life through multiple KPI's. Not just money or status but also health, happiness, relationships/connection, etc. Maybe your idol is a 10/10 on money and influence, but a 2/10 on health and happiness. Does that mean they're winning and you're losing?
You could’ve been born into the richest family on Earth, have an assortment of wives at your disposal, have gifted intelligence — yet if you were born in the year 1300 Middle Ages — would you take the trade? I certainly wouldn’t..
Very wise. There's a saying I read somewhere that “the struggle ends when the gratitude begins.” There's so much to be grateful for, but not if we only focus on the few specific things we lack.
Thanks so much Leo for all your wise & insightful ideas. Makes me smarter!

Thanks again and have a lovely weekend :)
One nuance is that you’re usually comparing across a very narrow domain:
Usually money or title or physical appearance
Why not compare on happiness? At least then you’re aiming for a better mental place — which (at the end of the day) is all that matters.
Such a good point Leo.

My takeaway / perspective is - instead of bucketing into categories - to view each individual as a unique entity.
It’s not just health, career, relationships..
It’s also age, circumstance, languages known, personal and professional network, disabilities, gifts, etc
I always say Happiness first. That’s most important. Optimize on that and everything else will follow
