Happy Saturday all!
I hope you’re having a great start to your weekend.
What I’ve been up to:
I had my first week of classes at the University of Navarra. It's my first time taking any courses in history and philosophy, presenting both a new challenge and refreshing change. It struck me how much I’ve been taught in university about the modern world, but how little about how we got here.
Here's a recap of the coolest things I've explored this week.
✍️ Quote I’m pondering:
Mary Anne Radmacher, writer and artist, on true courage:
“Courage doesn't always roar.
Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day whispering, 'I will try again tomorrow.'”
📚 Book passage I loved:
the arrow doesn't seek the target,
the target draws the arrow
We must be aware of what we attract in life because it is no accident or coincidence.
The spider waits in his web for dinner to come.
Yes, we must chase what we want, seek it out, cast our lines in the water,
but sometimes we don't need to make things happen.
Our souls are infinitely magnetic.

💡 Idea from me: Your Character Becomes Your Fate
Naval Ravikant believes there are four types of luck. The first three are good, but the fourth type is best.
He writes, "the last kind of luck is the weirdest, hardest kind, where you build a unique character, a unique brand, a unique mindset, which causes luck to find you."
In other words, build your character in a certain way, as your character becomes your destiny.
Rather than focusing on getting the things themselves, focus on making yourself the type of person that attracts those things.
And, reading 'The Last Lecture' by Randy Pausch, he ends with an identical idea:
"It's not about how to achieve your dreams. It's about how to lead your life.
If you lead your life the right way, the karma will take care of itself. The dreams will come to you."
How you lead your life, your character, becomes your fate.
Build your character, architect your fate.
❓ Question for You:
Can we live in a way where we look forward to looking back?
📸 Photo of the week:
I stumbled across an artisan tea store in Pamplona's Old Town.
I'm considering buying a gourd to prepare Yerba Mate the traditional way, but haven't decided.
Has anyone used a gourd before? Any recommendations?

So easy to say yet so challenging to live. We are shaped by a world of wants. Character, true character, who has time to build that??
