Happy Saturday all!
I hope you’re having a great start to your weekend.
What I’ve been up to:
I've finished up week 2 of the European Innovation Academy in Portugal. It’s been crazy busy but a great opportunity to get a taste of the startup world.
My team is creating an online marketplace for authentic home cooking. Similar to Uber Eats but with local home cooks instead of restaurants. You can check out the landing page here.
Here's a recap of the coolest things I've explored this week.
✍️ Quote I’m pondering:
Hunter S Thompson, American journalist, on designing a life:
"But beware of looking for goals: look for a way of life.
Decide how you want to live and then see what you can do to make a living WITHIN that way of life."
📚 Book passage I loved:
Get out of the hypercompetitive "life hack" frame of mind.
I'm 74. Believe me, you've got all the time in the world. You’ve got ten lifetimes ahead of you.
Don't worry about your friends "beating" you or "getting somewhere" ahead of you. Get out into the real dirt world and start failing.
Why do I say that? Because the goal is to connect with your own self, your own soul.
Adversity. Everybody spends their life trying to avoid it. But the best things that ever happened to me came during the times when the shit hit the fan and I had nothing and nobody to help me.
Who are you really? What do you really want? Get out there and fail and find out.
―Tribe of Mentors by Tim Ferriss (quote from Steven Pressfield)
💡 Idea from me: Designing Days
“The only real test of intelligence is if you get what you want out of life.”
― Naval Ravikant
Life is made up of days.
"What do I want my life to be like?" can be a daunting and ambiguous question.
Perhaps the better question is: "What do I want my days to look like?"
Design your perfect day.
Optimize for that.
Then reverse engineer your choices to create more "perfect days" and fewer bad days.
❓ Question for You:
Will this matter in six months?
📸 Photo of the week:
I was able to make it down to the ocean one night to catch a sunset.
Portugal has definitely become one of my favorite countries in Europe I’ve visited. Friendly people, beautiful sights, great food - and it’s super affordable.
